Morphing Images: from pastel… to oil … to watercolor

I just finished this oil painting recently. I was inspired by a pastel from many years ago (See article Painting from Memory: Step by Step) which I found while looking for something else, or so I thought!

Working on the oil painting was a pleasant experience. I enjoyed expanding the imagery from the pastel to explore familiar feelings which I did not understand. I especially like seeing the imagery larger, brighter and bolder. Dreamscape I, pastel

To give you a sense of the size difference, the oil painting is 4 times the size of the pastel! I kept wanting to see the house that I felt was there, so I painted it in in the oil.

While working on the oil, I kept having visions, thoughts and encounters with wallpaper. I know this sounds odd, but I kept seeing images printed as wallpaper murals with handpainted color washed on the surface.
